PD WEDDINGS : EDO BRIDES, BEADS AND THEIR RICH CULTURE



Edo State is located in the south southern part of Nigeria, just two states away from the famous Niger Bridge or River Niger is wish to call it...

The famous Benin Kingdom is in the capital of Edo State, where the real roots of the Oduduwa (South West-Yoruba people emanated from).

Apart from their rich culture Edo(s), they are also known to have so many delicious delicacies as their natives foods.

Today we will be looking at the beautiful faces, attires and entire traditional wedding outfit of their women, especially brides and brides to be, you can definitely tell, they are indeed beautiful.

Been adorned in lenghty Fabrics (wrappers) like, regal red velvet (mostly), beaded george or lace materials depending on their taste and choice.

The coral beads the bride uses includes;
Neck Beads - Ivie-uru
Hand Beads - Ivie-ebo
Beaded Earrings - Ehorivie
Beaded Clutch bag - Ekpa-ivie
Shoulder Cape-like beads - Ewu-ivie... which just makes everything speak royalty in volume.


Not forgetting the beautifully crafted crown is made with their hair well gel-ed and made into a high bun called Eto-Okuku and when the beads is beautifully arranged and adorned on it after it's fully done, it's called Okuku.

Brides can also opt to wear breaded slippers or shoes (depending on their choice).
