TWO ARRESTED AS LAUTECH STUDENTS ENGAGE IN PROTEST OVER SIX MONTH STRIKE AND HIKE IN TUITION FEES

Students of Ladoke Akintola University , Ogbomosho (LAUTECH), engaged in a protest today over strike action that took place six month ago just few days before the commencement of  their examination.

A source reported that they had engaged in a peaceful protest prior to the one which took place today, as a meeting was held earlier by ASUU and the school's administration over the payment of Staff Salaries which led to the initiation of a N350,000 new tuition fee per session by students who initially paid the sum of N65,000 to N75,000 per session and this meeting was said to have ended inconclusively.

The students however took to the street of Ogbomosho to pour out their minds in a peaceful protest over this development and the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) swung into action to confront the protesters and started shooting sporadically amidst spraying of tear gas over the student protesters.

Few people have been injured and two student have reportedly been detained.

I hope this issue is resolved as soon as possible.
